BUILD A CHEAP PAINT DRYER
"DO IT YOURSELF" PAINT DRYER for
WHITE METAL for UNDER $25.00
|
REQUIRED MATERIALS (All can be bought at Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.) |
-
One white metal US mailbox, 19” long X 6 ½” wide
-
One ANGELO Candelabra Base with Snap-In Socket and Switch
-
One 40 watt Candelabra bulb – frosted.
-
One ACURITE Combination Digital Thermometer
|
ASSEMBLY |
-
Cut a 1” X 7/8” square hole centered 2/1/2” from the end of the top of the mailbox. (See Photos)
-
Insert the Candelabra Base into the hole, it just snaps in.
-
Place the thermometer probe halfway and near the top inside of the mailbox. The probe has a self-stick piece on the back.
-
Place the thermometer on the outside of the mailbox door per the photo.
-
Insert the light bulb, plug in the light and turn on the switch.
|
TEMPERATURE CONTROL |
The front door of the mail controls the temperature. Since the door cannot be completely closed because of the probe wire, the maximum temperature recorded after two hours was 110°F. The lowmelt solder melts at 157°F or 70°C and the white metal (pewter) even higher, therefore it works. It also provides a dust-free area to dry those models up to 18” long.
